ACY12201 F8F2 BEARCAT (FRENCH A.F.)

The Grumman F-8F Bearcat, developed towards the end of WW2, was one of the most successful piston-engine aircraft to serve with the US Navy. It was the first in the line of single-seat, single-engine fighters originating from the F-4F Wildcat. The F-8F Bearcat was designed to serve primarily as an interceptor fighter. The French Armee De l’Air and the Royal Thai Air Force were supplied ex-US Navy Bearcats, playing a significant role in the conflict in Indo-China.

Academy releases a decal variation of their F8F-1 Bearcat. This finely detailed kit breathes new life the Academy mold with French Air Force markings as well as from US Navy. The nose interior is masterfully detailed on this 1/48th bird, and the single-piece prop fits like a glove. The kit is loaded with so many bombs and missiles we could hardly fit them under the wings. Fully engraved panel lines and rivet details throughout the kit, and a highly detailed cockpit and landing gear make this a great value. Authentic decal markings are included from the Blue Angels.
